SPRING CHAMBER MUSIC IN MOUNT PLEASANT, SC - May 2

In tandem with a concert event at the North Charleston Arts Fest May 1, the Colour of Music Festival returns to Mount Pleasant with a spring chamber music presentation at the I’On Village Chapel, Friday, May 2, 2025, at 7 p.m. showcasing leading Black classical artists.

Returning to the picturesque ION village community east of the Cooper the festival will usher in the spring with a performance showcasing a Baroque giant and 20th century noted Black composers. Lead violinists Anyango Yarbo-Davenport and Romuald Grimbert-Barré will be joined by the Festival’s chamber ensemble to perform J.S. Bach's Double Violin Concerto and his Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 as well as William Grant Still's "Mother & Child," George Walker's "Lyric," and Coleridge Taylor Perkinson's "Cavalry” in an intimate setting.

Since 2013, the Colour of Music Festival offers a musical kaleidoscope highlighting the impact and historical significance of Black classical composers and performers on American and world culture. The Colour of Music Festival began with performances at various venues throughout historic Charleston and has grown to debut at leading collegiate venues and performance halls in Atlanta, Columbia, SC, Houston, Pittsburgh, Washington, DC, Richmond, Nashville, Sacramento, and Tulsa, OK.

“Since its inception in 2013, the Colour of Music Festival has been a key partner in the I'On Village various annual concert offerings. As we embark on our third year of collaboration, we look forward to expanding our impact by fostering civic engagement and uniting the I'On Village and surrounding communities through the shared experience of wonderful chamber music," Lee Pringle, Founder and Artistic Director, Colour of Music Festival and I’On resident.
